Caron Modern Media is powered by video savvy women with a passion for quality content. With varying types of experience between them, our video production team members come together with a shared goal: to make creative, inspiring videos for Bay Area brands.
Caron Shahrestani
Founder/Director
Before starting her own video company, our founder came from a writing and teaching background. After graduating from the University of Oregon with degrees in both journalism and French, she worked as a newspaper reporter for a number of publications from The Detroit Free Press to the Honolulu Advertiser.
In 2006, she joined the Peace Corps as an English teacher in Francophone West Africa, where she became fluent in French. Born and raised in the Bay Area, Caron moved back to San Francisco in 2008 and pivoted to video production amidst a newspaper industry melt down.
Caron apprenticed for local video production companies and studied video marketing at the University California Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism before deciding to strike out on her own. With the support of her Bay Area based family and an angel investor, she opened Caron Modern Media in 2013.
Stacie Piza
Video Production Assistant
Stacie and Caron first met through a completely different industry: fitness instruction! Stacie appears in a number of Caron’s earlier videos for the Bar Method Palo Alto studio as well as her fitness photography.
Having trained under Caron in video production and editing, Stacie has worked as an in-house video marketer for a number of Silicon Valley startups. She especially enjoys DSLR video production and editing HD video content on Adobe Premiere Pro!
Through her work with local startups, Stacie has developed a talent for social media marketing and platform management. She is a quick learner, a dedicated worker and a great improvisor when hiccups happen on set!
Rachelle Rabin
Corporate Video Consultant
Having worked as a corporate video producer and director for more than 20 years, Rachelle brings a wealth of information to her consulting role at CMM. Much like Caron, her earlier work experience in radio has given her an appreciation for musicality, cadence and brevity in video.
Rachelle and Caron’s first video collaboration was a actually barter for filming services: Rachelle agreed to film Caron’s wedding in exchange for Caron creating a video about Rachelle’s original artwork. Through these different projects and their shared passion for fitness, they became friends.
As a corporate video consultant for CMM, Rachelle offers a sharp eye, an ear for music and a passion for creative content. She also laughs at most of Caron’s jokes and acts as her wing woman at local networking events and trade shows.
